THE LITTLE PRINCE
THE LITTLE
PRINCE
ENG
All grown-ups were once children... but only few of them remember it.
Plot
The tale is about The Little Prince, who visits various planets in space, including Earth.
The book addresses the themes of loneliness, friendship, love and loss. Despite the style of a children’s book, its protagonist reflects on life and human nature.
The Little Prince was born on a train.
The writer Antoine Saint-Exupéry was travelling on a business trip to Moscow. The train carriages were filled with the families of dismissed Polish miners. Among them he noticed a sleeping boy whose beauty struck the writer. Antoine made a sketch.

It is impossible to imagine a book about the Little Prince without illustrations. Now there are 46 drawings in the book. All of them were drawn by Saint-Exupery.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry drew sketches of the Little Prince for his friend Léon Vertoux and sent them in letters from the front. At first it was a boy with wings, later the wings became a scarf.

The image of the protagonist is similar to the writer. Little Tonio was a blond boy, a descendant of an impoverished noble family. As he grew older, he often looked up at the starry sky and became known as the Lunatic.

In May 1942 Exupery was a guest of Laval’s friend Charles de Coninck in Canada. The talk of war was unbearable. Laval’s son Thomas loved to talk to Antoine and learned to make paper aeroplanes. Thomas later became a philosopher.
In describing the death of the Little Prince, Saint-Exupéry described the death of his brother. He had been ill for a long time, and just before his death he called Antoine to him and tried to comfort him: "I am not in pain. But I can’t help myself. It’s just my body."
The acquaintance of the narrator and The Little Prince takes place in Sahara, where the pilot is forced to make a landing because of a faulty engine.
It was the true story. In 1936, Exupery and his mechanic miraculously survived and endured for four days without water until they were found by bedouins.
Exupery was flying a plane with serial number B-612.

If you please... draw me a sheep!
Which SHEEP will you draw?
You see yourself, that this is not a sheep. This is a ram. It has horns.
No. This sheep is already very sickly. Make me another.
This one is too old. I want a sheep that will live a long time.
That is exactly the way I wanted it... Look! He has gone to sleep.
